I know choosing songs for the big day can often be overwhelming so I thought I’d take the edge off and share a few quick tips I’ve learned over the years to help you in selecting music for your Cocktail Hour.
Let’s face it, with so much excitement going on between the initial greetings and socializing, free-flowing drinks, and tasty appetizers – most guests just don’t pay much attention to the music at the cocktail hour.
But you can change that and make it all the more memorable by thinking of your cocktail hour as your “vibe setting” hour.
TIP #1: Now is the time to set the tone for the evening with music that matches your style as a couple. Think about what defines you – are you fun, eclectic, romantic, classic, funky? You’re likely a combination but it’s helpful to be able to communicate this to your music vendor so they can best help guide you towards your best choices.
TIP #2: Save your faves for the dancefloor! Specific songs that you really want to hear/dance to can be woven into a reception playlist when you actually have time to enjoy them yourselves!
TIP #3: Want the cocktail music to be even more notable? Consider adding live musicians. People love live music and it will differentiate the cocktail hour experience from the reception.
